Business rescue
Repair. Rebuild. Return to Growth.
ICSE Zambia does not automatically abandon struggling businesses. Where value can be recovered, we work to recover it. Where it cannot, we say so early.
Recoverable value
Distress is usually a symptom, not the whole story
Many failing companies still hold assets a buyer, lender or customer values. The question is whether the correctable problems are the ones actually causing the losses.
- Customers
- Assets
- Staff
- Licences
- Products
- Technology
- Reputation
- Contracts
The assessment
A practical turnaround process
Seven steps, in order. We do not move to capital before the losses have been stopped.
- Step 1
Diagnose
What is actually broken? Distress is usually a symptom, not the cause.
- Step 2
Stabilise
What must stop immediately — losses, leakage, unfunded commitments.
- Step 3
Protect
What value must be preserved: customers, staff, licences, assets, contracts.
- Step 4
Restructure
What must change financially, operationally or organisationally.
- Step 5
Recapitalise
Does the company genuinely require new capital, and on what terms.
- Step 6
Rebuild
Restore sales, controls, operations, management, supplier relationships and customer confidence.
- Step 7
Exit where necessary
Where turnaround is inappropriate: acquisition, merger, asset sale or controlled closure.
Who does the work

- Marketer
- Technology specialist
- Operations specialist
Specialists are not all employees. Depending on the case they are ICSE Zambia staff, members, contracted professionals or strategic partners, engaged under terms appropriate to the work.
What to send us
The turnaround intake asks for the nature of the distress, current revenue, debt and creditor position, employees, assets, customers still in place and how urgent the situation is. Submissions are handled confidentially by the secretariat.
Start a turnaround intakeICSE Zambia is not an insolvency practitioner and does not provide legal representation. Where a formal insolvency or legal process is required, we say so and work alongside the appropriate professionals.
